Watch: Mike Flynn freaks out on reporter who asks if he contacted his active general brother on Jan. 6

Former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn recently walked out of an interview with Associated Press reporter Michelle Smith after she asked him if he was communicating with his brother, United States Army Gen. Charles Flynn, during the events leading up to the January 6 attack on the United States Capitol.

In a clip posted by PBS's Frontline, Flynn can be seen angrily attacking the Associated Press, which he describes as a "horrendous organization" that he then falsely claimed published a "false story" about him that "caused the Dow Jones to drop."

Things got even testier after Smith asked him about talking with his brother on January 6, 2021.

"Because of this interview, I will never talk to AP again," he fumed. "I'm so sick of this because it's so fake and it's so targeted, and it's all about, 'We're going to get this guy!'"

At this point, Flynn got up and walked out of the interview.

"I'll never speak to AP again because of this interview!" he emphasized as he left.

The clip released by PBS is part of a PBS documentary called "Mike Flynn's Holy War" that is scheduled to air on October 18, 2022.

These guys always talk so tough and lie with impunity. But its a different ballgame when they are sitting there under oath looking a prison time if they lie. And especially this one. Trump is so mentally ill he almost always goes with whoever he talks to last. And in they White House Stephen Miller made sure he was the last one to talk to Trump. But now its Merrick Garland's turn to give Miller the last word.

Stephen Miller subpoenaed by a grand jury investigating January 6

Two more of Donald Trump's top White House advisors have been issued subpoenas by a federal grand jury investigating Jan. 6.

"Brian Jack, the final White House political director under Mr. Trump, and Stephen Miller, Mr. Trump’s top speechwriter and a senior policy adviser, were among more than a dozen people connected to the former president to receive subpoenas from a federal grand jury this week," The New York Times reported Friday evening.

The newspaper reports Jack remains an advisor the former president and House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

"The subpoenas seek information in connection with the Save America political action committee and the plan to submit slates of electors pledged to Mr. Trump from swing states that were won by Joseph R. Biden Jr. in the 2020 election. Mr. Trump and his allies promoted the idea that competing slates of electors would justify blocking or delaying certification of Mr. Biden’s Electoral College win during a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6, 2021," the newspaper reported.

Miller discussed the fake electors scheme on Fox News in Dec. of 2020.

"The subpoenas were issued to a wide range of people who either worked in the White House or on the Trump campaign, including senior officials like the campaign’s chief financial officer; personal aides to Mr. Trump; and the former chief of staff to Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter who also served as one of his senior advisers," The Times reported. "Among the recipients of subpoenas from a grand jury sitting in Washington are relatively junior aides from the White House and Mr. Trump’s 2020 campaign. While the subpoenas asked for information concerning the Save America PAC, they also sought communications with several pro-Trump lawyers — like Kenneth Chesebro — who helped devise the electors plan."

So while Shooter was on ........... vacation ............ he did a bit of checking about this list that has exposed the extremists in our midst.
    Couple of things;
    The AP article claimed that;
370 people are in law enforcement. Everything from uniformed street cops to chiefs of police. (There are about 1 MILLION law enforcement officials in America.)
100 people are current members of the military. (1.3 MILLION Americans are in uniform)
80 people who are running for or have served in public office. (520,000 elected officials in the United States)
That's 550 people identified, but what the heck, lets call it 600 people in case some were missed somehow.

And we won't even try to figure out how many of those 600 people have dropped membership, or were never members, or whatever. And we'll just avoid the debate about what it means to be a member of oath keepers and work from the premise of the article above, mainly that oath keepers are out to overthrow the government. We'll just go with the premise of the article that all 550+ people on the list are in fact extremists who at least support Trump, are Maga's or are both and willing to overthrow the government.

So, how many names total were on the list we wondered?
Had to dig a bit, but the answer is 38,000.
Huh. 38,000 people out of a US population of 350 MILLION.
That's roughly .01% of the population.
    Oh, and the 600 "public/Law Enforcement/military?
That's 0.1% of the oath keepers membership.

So, what does it all mean?
Well, for starters, it's hard to know exactly how many extremists there are in America. The Southern Poverty Law Project is generally considered the authority on the subject and they identified 733 extremist organizations as of last year.
Hate Map | Southern Poverty Law Center (splcenter.org)
But a closer look reveals that organizations like the American College of Pediatricians is considered an extremist group, as are "Hate music" groups, apparently this would be the heavy "black metal" bands.
    Huh.

Well, here's the thing. It occurs to Shooter that .001% of the population being members of both government and oathkeepers is pretty non important. You know, until we figure out if those INDIVIDUALS are violent, or just followers, or what.

Cause, to be honest, an organization that considers the American College of Pediatricians to be "extremists" for its stand on LGBTQ issues, but not Black Lives Matters or Antifa is probably being a bit less than objective.
    Which leads us to the old adage;
Figures never lie, but liars figure.

I never actually saw an Antifa group specifically. According to Wikipedia, they are a "decentralized array of autonomous groups". Seems some, even many, should be on this extremist list and may be.
BLM is characterized as a social movement, not an organized membership group. Having said that, I don't consider any belief system to warrant listed as an extremist organizations. We may believe in the benefits of rain, but that doesn't put us in an organization. (Not sure I'm making myself clear.)

Jan. 6 rally organizer says government is seeking information from her in grand jury investigation

    Jordan Green, Staff Reporter
    September 12, 2022

    Gage Skidmore.

Federal investigators are seeking information from Women for America First, which hosted the “Save America Rally,” as part of a wide-ranging probe into fundraising by the Trump campaign after the election, the alternate electors scheme and the Jan. 6 rally headlined by President Trump, which set the stage for the attack on the US Capitol.

Attorney Harmeet Dhillon tweeted on Friday night that Women for America First was among clients that had been “served w/ extremely broad subpoenas, or warrants for phone/device.”

Amy Kremer, the organization’s chair, retweeted Dhillon on Saturday morning, writing, “I can confirm this.”

The New York Times and Washington Post have previously reported that the federal grand jury investigation is focusing on political fundraising by Trump through a political action committee set up after the 2020 election that promoted baseless election fraud claims. The Post also reported that at least one of the subpoenas sought information “about the plan to submit slates of phony electors claiming Trump won pivotal states.

The two outlets reported that the subpoenas were sent to former White House and Trump campaign staffers, with the Times naming William B. Harrison, a former White House aide who now works for Trump’s personal office; Julie Radford, chief of staff to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka; Nicholas Luna, another personal aide to Trump; and Sean Dollman, the chief financial officer of the 2020 campaign. The Times and Post reported that the subpoenas are seeking communications with lawyers involved in the fake electors scheme.

The revelation that Women for America First is among the entities that have received subpoenas, search warrants or a combination of the two adds a new dimension to the grand jury investigation. Dhillon told Carlson during an appearance on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Friday that three of her law firm’s clients received search warrants or subpoenas from what she called “the ‘Capitol siege’ section of the United States Department of Justice’s DC office.”

“They ask for all communications dating from a month before the election ’til two months after the election,” Dhillon said. “And they ask for all communications regarding dozens of people. And the categories are alternate electors, fundraising around irregularities around the election, and also a rally that happened before the January 6th situation at the Capitol — the Save America Rally.”

The news sent a ripple through the far-right media ecosystem. After turning himself in to authorities in Manhattan on charges of defrauding donors to a scheme to build a border wall, former White House strategist Steve Bannon appeared on Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s show on Friday, and claimed “there were 35 senior members of MAGA, Republican supporters of Donald Trump — the FBI rolled in on ’em.” In her interview with Carlson later on Friday, Dhillon placed the figure at “50 approximately.”

Kirk characterized Bannon’s statement as a “bombshell” and said that his guest “broke news” in a clip tweeted out to promote the interview.

Trump allies have framed the grand jury investigation as part of a persecution campaign by Democrats and the FBI against conservatives.

Retired Lt. General Michael Flynn, Trump’s former national security advisor and a figurehead in the election denier movement, amplified the persecution theme in an interview with Bannon on Saturday.

“Really, what this latest thing, too, Steve is, I think you broke yesterday — really what it is, it’s basically, when they put out all these subpoenas, when they do all these things to all these different people, they’re basically telling you to sit down and shut up,” he said.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who was reportedly part of a group of Republican lawmakers who met with Trump in December 2020 to discuss a dubious legal theory positing that Vice President Mike Pence could single-handedly reject Biden electors and preemptively sought a pardon, told Bannon she had spoken to some of the individuals who received subpoenas on Friday.

“They’re building a conspiracy theory, a spider web,” Greene said. “They’re trying to lie about all of us and say that we were doing something on January 6th that we absolutely were not. Everything that we did was legal.” Greene went on to complain that the government is “trying to create a conspiracy that we were waging an insurrection — and we absolutely were not.”

Speaking with Greene, Bannon fumed, “This is all intimidation tactics. They think they’re going to scare people. And they’re not scaring people. They’re making our resolve — we’ve got steely resolve now. You’re not going to scare anybody. You’re not going to intimidate anybody. We’re going to break you. We’re going to break you. The FBI, we’re going to break you. We’re going to win a sweeping victory on November the 8th, and then we’re going to cut off your money.”

Bannon could disappear tomorrow, no one would cry. As far as the committee, they can threaten and intimidate regular folks into denying their own name.

Because reality is a very real thing that happens everyday and people need to confront it. These are also complicated and complex issues that need to be tracked as they develop. And this thread doesn't have anything to do with the J6 committee. This is the Department of Justice investigating an armed insurrection and the first attempted coup in American history. A coup that involved thousands of people in multiple states that tried to overthrow the government of the United States of America. This is living history being made every day.

All the DOJ has to do is flip one or more of these witnesses and it is a very target rich environment.

Stephen Miller and Brian Jack, top Trump aides, were among more than a dozen people subpoenaed for DOJ's expansive Jan. 6 investigation: NYT report

    • The DOJ currently has a broad investigation into the events around January 6, 2021.

    • Among the DOJ's interests are Donald Trump's PAC and the plot to overturn the 2020 vote.

    • Stephen Miller and Brian Jack, Trump advisors, were among more than a dozen subpoenaed this week, per NYT.
Two top former Trump advisors were subpoenaed this week as part of the Justice Department's expansive investigation into the events around the January 6 Capitol Riot and beyond, according to The New York Times.

Stephen Miller, a senior policy advisor during the Trump White House, and Brian Jack, Trump's political director, were among more than a dozen people in the former president's circle who were subpoenaed by a federal grand jury this week, The Times reported.

Miller and Jack did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The subpoenas appear to seek information on Trump's main fundraising operation, Save America, which was formed after the 2020 election, and the alleged plot to overturn the 2020 vote by sending a slate of fake electors to contested states, per The Times.

On Thursday, The Times also reported that the DOJ is looking into the PAC based on about a half a dozen subpoenas to lower-level former Trump aides, including Nicholas Luna and Ivanka Trump's chief of staff, Julie Radford. It remains unclear why exactly the PAC is being investigated and how it might relate to the Capitol riot

The subpoenas for Miller and Jack are also related to the Trump PAC as well as the 2020 electors scheme, per The Times.

On top of the ongoing probe of Trump's handling of official government records, the DOJ is investigating the Capitol breach, any obstruction of that investigation, and the fake electors plot.

Miller was subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating January 6 for his phone records earlier this year. The advisor filed a suit to block the subpoena, CNN reported. He previously sat for a deposition with the panel.

Jack, who still advises Trump, was also subpoenaed by the committee last year.

So far, at least 40 members of Trump's circle are publicly known to have cooperated with federal and congressional investigators.

GOP senators led by Graham slam Trump Jan. 6 pardon promise
by Alexander Bolton - 09/12/22 6:00 AM ET

    Share

Former President Trump’s promise to grant pardons to the rioters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, is running into strong opposition from Senate Republicans.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), one of Trump’s closest allies, told The Hill that granting pardons to Jan. 6 protesters is “a bad idea.”

“Pardons are given to people who admit misconduct, rehabilitate themselves. They’re not supposed to be used for other purposes,” he said.

Other Republican senators are joining Graham in criticizing Trump’s promise to pardon the Jan. 6 protesters as inappropriate.

“I don’t think potential candidates should hold pardons out as a promise,” said Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), who is usually a reliable Trump ally. “It’s somewhat problematic for me on a moral level and an ethical level — sort of like promising other giveaways to particular individuals.

“I prefer avoiding those kinds of things,” he said.

Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) said he wouldn’t support granting pardons to people convicted of crimes because of their actions on Jan. 6.

“If he were elected, he would have a constitutional ability to do it,” he said of Trump’s promise of pardons. “I would disagree with it. I think there was insurrection and I think these folks need to be punished.

“I was there. This was truly violent. People were injured, people were killed. I have very little mercy for the individuals that were involved in that activity that day,” Rounds added.

Senate Republican Whip John Thune (S.D.) said people who committed crimes on Jan. 6 must face the consequences of their actions.

“The only people that get pardoned are people who are charged with crimes. If they were charged with crimes, they ought to be prosecuted like everybody else,” he said. “The rule of law applies. If people broke laws, they need to be held accountable.”

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), who voted last year to impeach Trump on the charge of inciting an insurrection on Jan. 6, said pardoning people who invaded the Capitol to stop Biden’s election would be wrong.

“The Jan. 6 riot was an attack on the temple of democracy, and the people who violated the law, attacked our law enforcement and besmirched our nation’s Capitol should be prosecuted according to the law, and certainly should not be pardoned,” he said. “It’s a grossly inappropriate comment to make.”

Not every Republican is quick to dismiss the idea of a pardon.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) who raised a fist to protestors outside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, before he and other members of Congress were evacuated during the insurrection, is more open to the idea of granting leniency to pro-Trump protesters.

“Let’s see which ones he would choose to do,” Hawley said of the prospect of Trump pardoning Jan. 6 protesters if he wins another term in the White House. “There’s no question it has been a massive prosecutorial effort.“

He and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who both led objections to the Electoral College tally in January 2021, argue the Department of Justice (DOJ) is punishing Trump supporters who entered the Capitol on Jan. 6 much more aggressively than the rioters who destroyed property at Black Lives Matter demonstrations in 2020.

“I think that the folks who committed crimes, particularly violent crimes, on that day ought to be prosecuted,” Hawley said of the Jan. 6 protesters who have been sentenced to prison. “I think the question becomes, are there people who’ve been caught up in this drag net who, for instance, didn’t know that they were trespassing?“

“There’s a lot of concern about, frankly, the double standard at [the Department of Justice] going after people who may have at most trespassed on federal property and not even known they did it versus folks who have in [Black Lives Matter] riots committed violent crimes and not been prosecuted,” he added, referring to the failure to prosecute people who destroyed property at riots in the wake of George Floyd’s death at the hands of police.

“There absolutely is undeniably a double standard,” he said.

Hawley said the Department of Justice has filed briefs asking for leniency for Black Lives Matter protesters who destroyed property or caused injuries because their actions were motivated by a desire for social justice, while federal prosecutors have sought maximum penalties for Trump supporters who entered the Capitol last year.

Federal prosecutors, for example, asked for an 18-month prison sentence for Richard Michetti, who was arrested after his ex-girlfriend turned him in to law enforcement.

Michetti was charged with aiding and abetting obstruction of an official proceeding after entering and remaining in the Capitol for 45 minutes on Jan. 6, where he yelled obscenities at police officers. He was sentenced last week to 24 months of supervised release and ordered to pay a $2,000 penalty.

A study published by Time magazine in June found that 840 people had been charged with storming the Capitol on that day and that about a quarter of them have received criminal sentences, with a median prison sentence of 45 days.

Trump told conservative radio host Wendy Bell on Sept. 1 that he would issue full pardons and apologize to many of his supporters who were prosecuted for their actions on Jan. 6.

“I mean full pardons with an apology to many,” he said earlier this month.

Cruz said there’s a big difference between protesters who attacked Capitol police officers and smashed the Capitol’s windows and doorways and Trump supporters who showed up at the Capitol to voice their opposition to certifying Biden as president.

“I think there is a stark difference between acts of violence and peaceful protest. Acts of violence are unacceptable from any political perspective. Peaceful protest is protected by the first amendment of the Constitution,” Cruz said when asked about Trump’s promise to pardon many Jan. 6 protesters.

“The Biden Justice Department has used Jan. 6 and the violent acts of a few to justify persecuting the peaceful protest and political speech of the many,” he said. “It is wildly inconsistent.

“The Department of Justice turns a blind eye to violent rioters who looted, destroyed and firebombed American cities across the country but is eager to target anyone who dares speak on the other side of the aisle,” he said, citing Biden’s recent speech in Philadelphia, where he accused Trump and his allies of pushing a form of political extremism that “threatens the very foundations of our republic.”

“This past week it got so bad that Joe Biden, bathed in red light, decreed that half the nation are fascists because they dare to disagree with his socialist policies,” Cruz said. “What DOJ is doing, targeting the political enemies of the White House, is corrupt and incredibly harmful.”

Asked if people who illegally entered the Capitol on Jan. 6 should receive pardons if they didn’t assault officers or destroy property, Cruz would only say “acts of violence are qualitatively different.”

A study of court records by The Associated Press have found that federal prosecutors have filed more than 300 cases related to the protests that swept America after Floyd’s death.

It also found that more than 120 defendants have pleaded guilty to crimes such as rioting and arson and that more than 70 have received sentences, with the average penalty being 27 months in prison.

Graham, one of Trump’s staunchest allies in the Senate, said granting pardons to people who tried to intimidate and stop lawmakers from doing their jobs would set a bad precedent.

“It reinforces violence. The people who defiled the Capitol and took the law in their own hands deserve to be brought to justice,” he said.

The New York Times reported Monday afternoon that at least 40 subpoenas have been filed for allies of former President Donald Trump over the attempt to overthrow the 2020 election using the fake electors.

At least two of Trump's top advisers had their phones taken by the FBI, sources told the Times. Boris Epshteyn, a Russian-American Republican political strategist who served as a strategic adviser to Trump's 2020 campaign was one of those who had to surrender his phone. The other was Mike Roman an opposition researcher who worked for Trump from 2017 to 2018. He went on to work on the campaign, and became the person who handed off the envelope of fake electors to be given to Vice President Mike Pence.

The Times described it as an indication that the Justice Department's case is escalating after slow movement for the past several months.

Dan Scavino, Trump’s former social media director is also among those who got a subpoena from the case.

Former New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik was another subpoenaed. He was on the team with Rudy Giuliani and helping with the so-called "war room" on Jan. 6 at the Willard Hotel.

Some of the information, the Times explained, was asking about activities around the Save America PAC, which has been the main source of funding for Trump since leaving office.

DOJ now investigating every element of Trump's 'sprawling legal machine': report

On Tuesday, CNN reported that the DOJ investigation into former President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election has now expanded to every individual campaign and legal apparatus he used as part of his plan.

"Justice Department criminal prosecutors are now examining nearly every aspect of former President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election — including the fraudulent electors plot, efforts to push baseless election fraud claims and how money flowed to support these various efforts — according to sources and copies of new subpoenas obtained by CNN," reported Tierney Sneed, Katelyn Polantz, Sara Murray, Evan Perez, and Kristen Holmes.

"The investigation is also stretching into cogs of the sprawling Trump legal machine that boosted his efforts to challenge his electoral loss — with many of the recipients of 30-plus subpoenas that were issued in recent days being asked to turn over communications with several Trump attorneys," said the report. "The sweeping effort has many in Trump world concerned about the potential legal significance of being caught up in a federal investigation."

This comes as key members of the Trump inner circle — including Stephen Miller — have faced grand jury subpoenas. It also comes as Trump's "Save America PAC," one of the key fundraisers for the effort to overturn the election, is coming under investigative scrutiny.

"The Justice Department previously obtained grand jury testimony, conducted searches and nabbed extensive documents about rally organization and fundraising, about efforts in and around the White House to pressure then-Vice President Mike Pence to block certification of the election results, and about the fake electors," said the report. "This new round of subpoenas drills down with more specific requests about the baseless claims of mass election fraud that were being peddled to legislators, law enforcement and others."

The DOJ's efforts to probe the election plot are separate from the investigation into classified documents that were hoarded at the former president's Mar-a-Lago country club in Palm Beach, Florida — which is currently stalled as a Trump-appointed judge moves to appoint a special master to review the documents for privileged material.

Bit of overreach, don't we think?
The plan to get trump is expanding to get anyone or anything that ever failed to attack trump.

    No matter.
    Karma can be a bitch.

I don't read these political expose books, but Berman (former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Republican and initial Trump supporter) was on tv last night talking about how he resisted AG Barr's direct pressure to prosecute Trump's political foes for fabricated crimes and abandon charges against Trump's men. Talk about overreach.... bit of an understatement!!
As you say, Karma can be a bitch.

When you listen to these pundits on TV you have to listen carefully to what they say. Better yet, you want the transcript. That's where you begin to see the trends; the use of "sources familiar with the situation" and "Perhaps" instead of "Did" or all the other sneaky qualifiers used to make it sound like a smoking gun proving wrong doing when really all they're saying is "I had a wet dream".

But say, you believe what you want.
    Everyone else does.

Well, many of these sources remain anonymous or they wouldn't squeak. If they reported, "John Doe, who works as an aide in the White House, told us some shit you're gonna be interested in", he'd be out of a job, yah? As far as "perhaps" instead of "did".... oh yes, these pundits love to suggest what might be possible, leading one to nod one's head,,,, "yessss, that might just be true!"

But you see, don't you, how easy it is to make some claim like "Donald Trump had nuclear information about another country he could sell to Russia!!" and attribute it to "a source familiar with the situation". The truth might be something more like Trump had nuclear information that is available to the public on the CIA's web site, and there'd be enough "truth" that the story wouldn't get anyone sued, but it's just so much propaganda and bullshit.

That's what the despicables and their media hacks have been doing for 7 years. Very little of what they breathlessly report to us turns out to be accurate, in the way David Brinkley or Edward Murrow or Walter Cronkite were respected and trusted for accurate news.

When raw story and the young turks are the primary news source you know what follows will be bullshit.

      Nope.
Gotta find your own level of bullshit.

As an aside, Walter's daughter dated my college roommate for a while. Along with my gf, we sat in front of the tv, tripping, and watched Walt narrate the moon landing in 1969 (which we all know was totally faked out in the Arizona desert!). She later moved to the same community where I spent my adult life. We remained casual friends.

AND, you're no help recommending a news outlet that you feel doesn't spew lies, propaganda and bullshit.

Let Shooter be clear then. All media outlets spew lies, propaganda and bullshit. Some more than others, but none of them can claim to only report the facts.

Now we're in agreement. Wonderful! It seems the viewing public, those that have an intrest in politics beyond the half hour nightly news (which really only devotes about five minutes to politics before turning to wildfires, mass shootings, the occasional kidnapping or avalanche, and ending with the feelgood story of the day), those people with a more than passing interest in the political function (or disfunction) seem to want analysis of the facts which aligns with their world view. They (and me) respect many (not all) of the professional pundits. Having said that, we must be vigilant and aware of what is told to us so as to remain critical, questioning and intelligent.

DOJ is investigating Jeffrey Clark for conspiracy, obstruction and false statements

Donald Trump loyalist Jeffrey Clark, allegedly one of the top people inside the Department of Justice seeking to overturn the 2020 election, is being investigated for felony violations of false statements, conspiracy, and obstruction.

"Clark’s legal team wrote that on June 20 'approximately a dozen armed agents of the Department of Justice’s Office of Inspector General executed a criminal search warrant at [Mr. Clark’s] home at around 7 a.m. and seized his electronic devices' as part of an investigation into violations of laws concerning false statements, conspiracy and obstruction, according to a report published Wednesday by a committee of the DC Bar’s Board on Professional Responsibility," CNN reported. "This is the first time a document has named the specifics of what the Justice Department is considering as possible crimes, as it looks at the top circle of political players around then-President Donald Trump before January 6."

The disciplinary hearing in front of the DC Bar is separate from the criminal investigation into Clark.

"The attorney discipline committee’s report released Wednesday quoted an assertion Clark made in a still-confidential filing where he discloses the details of the search of his home. He had argued to the ethics authorities that his proceedings there should be on hold while the DOJ and other authorities investigate him," CNN reported. "Trump toyed with the idea of firing the Justice Department’s top leadership and installing Clark, after Clark tried to push the department toward questioning the former President’s election loss."

Clark was also separately subpoenaed by the House Select Committee Investigating the Jan. 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"According to a report released last week by the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, there is credible evidence that, while serving as an official at the Department of Justice, Mr. Clark was involved in efforts to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power," the select committee wrote. "Mr. Clark proposed delivery of a letter to state legislators in Georgia and others encouraging to delay certification of election results. Moreover, he recommended holding a press conference announcing that the Department was investigating allegations of voter fraud despite the lack of evidence that such fraud was present. Both proposals were rejected by Department senior leadership for lacking a factual basis and being inconsistent with the Department’s institutional role."
